Transmission spectrum of a microsphere-taper coupled system. The main panel (blue) shows the power transmitted through a tapered fiber coupled to a microsphere, as a function of laser frequency detuning. The dips in the signal correspond to the WGMs of the microsphere (diameter ≈60 μm). The theoretical Lorentzian fit for one of the dips has been shown in the inset plot. In the inset plot, the blue marks are the experiment data points and the red curve is the theoretical fit. The top panel (black), shows the power transmitted through the tapered fiber with no microsphere close to it, as a function of frequency detuning
